The sash, (Metis sash, coureur des bois sash, ceinture à flèches) is a piece of traditional French-Canadian clothing from the 19th century. It is also part of the Métis heritage.
It was used by the coureurs des bois. In addition to identifying which region they came from, it could be used as a scarf to keep warm or as rope for different uses.
The term "arrow" comes from the woven arrow-shaped patterns.
