Vintage poster depicting the coat of arms of Yukon (province of Canada) probably from the late 1950s.
The wavy blue and white vertical bands represent the Yukon River that gave the territory its name. The two red pyramids with gold discs represent the mountains where gold nuggets were discovered and refer to the Klondike Gold Rush. The St. George's Cross, which occupies the upper part of the shield, has a medallion in the centre with a blue and white motif that is the heraldic representation of fur (vair). It refers to the fact that the region was first discovered by fur traders working for the Hudson Bay Company.
This is a beautiful execution of a 1950s heraldic poster. Hand lettering and drawing. Finished with gold paint.
Very interesting vintage graphic.
Very good vintage condition. Corners very slightly bent (see photos)
Resplendent colors
