Third album in this series created in 1952 in the JOURNAL TINTIN, LE MYSTÈRE BORG, takes up the theme of a planetary threat present in the first 2 albums.
Journalist Lefranc tries to arrest Axel Borg linked to a mysterious virus that has affected a Swiss village. While the village is quarantined, Lefranc chases Borg from the Swiss mountains to the canals of Venice.

The magnificent snow settings, the winter alpine atmosphere, the ski chases, the ambushes in Venice, the clear, precise and realistic drawings make this album one of the classics of Franco-Belgian comics.

Jacques Martin (1921-2010) worked from 1946 for the weekly BRAVO!
In 1948, he joined Le JOURNAL TINTIN where he rubbed shoulders with HERGÉ and E.P. JACOBS.
In 1948 he created the ALIX series (period of Roman antiquity), then in 1952 the LEFRANC series.
In 1953 he joined the HERGÉ studios and until 1972 participated in the scenarios and sets of 5 TINTIN albums (The Sunflower Affair. Coke in stock. Tintin in Tibet. The Jewels of the Castafiore. Vol 714 for Sidney)
At the same time he continued his own creation and certain ALIX albums created controversy about the supposed homosexuality of his hero.
Furthermore, in the midst of the Algerian war, the albums LA GRIFFE NOIRE and LES LÉGIONS PERDUES were banned in France for inciting hatred and violence.

At the beginning of the 1980s, J. MARTIN became interested in other historical periods. With JHEN for the Hundred Years' War, ARNO for the Napoleonic era and ORION whose action takes place in ancient Greece.
From 1992, almost blind, J. MARTIN abandoned drawing to devote himself to screenplays.
In total he contributed to the creation of 120 albums published in 20 million copies and translated into 15 languages.

His mastery of technical drawing, particularly in the architectural style, combined with the historical accuracy and the epic aspect of his albums make him one of the masters of the clear line style and a giant of classic comics.
