THE MYSTERIOUS STAR marks the beginning of four-color printing for TINTIN albums. With the appearance of mushrooms, apples and giant spiders, fantasy intervenes for the first time in HERGÉ's universe. It also deals with the rivalry for progress between Europe and the United States.

A fragment of a meteorite has fallen into the Arctic. Along with European scientists, Tintin and Captain Haddock mount an expedition to recover part of it. The expedition becomes a race against time when a rival ship financed by a New York financier tries to arrive first...
